Q Did you later make any other trips from Greenriver to Townsite Bottoms in a row boat? A That was 1909; 1910 I did, yes. Q what was the purpose of that trip, Mr. Anderson? A What was taking supplies down to Townsite where I was stopping at that time while taking a trip over through Elaterite basin. Q You still retained your interest in that oil section, did you? A I did for a few years, yes. BY THE SPECIAL MASTER: Q Will you describe what this section of the country called Elaterite Basin is? What is there in there? A There is large deposits of oil sand there, oil practically oozing out of the ground in places, sands there one hundred feet straight up and down; don't know how much deeper it went; you see eighty to one hundred feet, the oil coming out of the side of the hill in places. Q Over what extent of territory? A Well, a number of miles. Q What is the nature of the country in there, sand? |
