Show 7238 Blake- D 5218 or delays in navigation were encountered? A We took our time coming back; the passengers left at Moab; the crew came back; we took our time; we hunted along the river, I think three or four days, stop and hunt before we got to the junction of the river. BY THE SPECIAL MASTER: Q How many days were you running from Wimmer's ranch to Moab? A We left Wimmer's ranch after dinner, camped, I think, at what is called Echo bottom; we would camp early; the next night we camped at the junction of the river. Going up we made one night's camp and reached Moab between twelve and one o'clock in the afternoon; that is on the November trip. BY MR. FARNSWORTH: Q Did you take any other shorter trips with either of your boats that you have not referred to here in your testimony? A Made one special trip to the Wimmer ranch during the summer. Q For compensation? A I am sure it was; I had no special object at that time in going to the Wimmer ranch, that I know of -- yes, excuses me, -- I recollect now, it was rather a picnic or excursion party. Q It was not for compensation, -- or was it? A Oh, yes; I wasn't out on picnic myself. |
