Show ACTIVITIES CENTER initiates new Union Director, E. Bebb SECRETARIES :- Beth Jacobsen, Janice Comer, Guerry Jarrett. ACTIVITIES CENTER STAFF - Ernest L. Bebb, Union and Student Activities Director; Mary Olpin, ASUU Advisor,- Colleen Makin, Assistant Union and Student Activities Director; Norm Brockbank, Fraternity Advisor; Just as its name implies, the Student Activities Center was the hub about which all non-classroom associated programs revolved. Tucked away along an upstairs corridor of the Union, surrounded by meeting rooms, the Center provided facilities for the average student which included telephones, typewriters, copying and mimeograph machines and a calendar of events. In addition, all committee funds channeled through the Center in the well known and dearly loved form known as the PEAF. Most important of the Center's resources was its staff, headed by Union Director Ernest Bebb and bolstered by Florence, Martha, Lee, George, of course, Richard and Zidana. Mr. Bebb assumed his position on March 1, 1968, bringing with him experiences from the University of New York at Oswego and the University of Nebraska. Filling a two month's vacancy, Mr. Bebb continued Doug Jensen's efforts toward completing the new Union expansion project. The Activities Center advisory staff shouldered three basic responsibilities: official University recognition of student organization; policy interpretation; and idea repository for student groups. To help carry out this function, people from the staff sat in as ex-officio members of major Union, ASUU, and Greek committees. Patrick Wilson, Student Activities Coordinator; Jan VanOrman, Publications and Artists and Speakers Advisor; Angela Peckham, Women's Organizations Advisor. 161 |
