Show Greek activities go psychedelic §n i iisiipiifiiii After the frenzied action of Rush, the Greeks began in earnest to prove to their new pledges just how much fun college could be. Before the sorority pledges thought twice, the fraternities met the new girls at the Beta Breakfast, Kappa Sig barbeque, Sigma Pi pie night and many exchanges. Sigma Chi's Melon Mess featured entertaining pledge talent. Homecoming decorations imaginatively displayed "Come to the U-in" in psychedelic music, strobe lights, motion pictures, and op-art paintings. Sigma Chi Derby Days found pledge contestants vying for points in the yard-and-a-half bikini contest, kissing contest, and tug-o-war. Serenades brought a new trend in '68 with the girls visiting the fraternities, singing "Gloria," "If I Had A Hammer," and chapter songs to the accompaniment of member-played banjos, guitars, and kazoos.
