Show DIAMOND MEN bat competition into outfield Starting the season with fifteen returning let-termen, Pres. Summerhays had one of his best teams in sixteen years as head baseball coach at Utah. This year's baseball team had great talent at every position and the needed depth to make the Ute-diamond men top contenders for the Northern Division baseball crown in the WAC. Fine pitching by John Nordquist Dick Hardy, and Mark Digioscio combined with fine receiving from Frank King and Scott Mayne gave Utah its best battery in years. Great infielding was shown by George Theodore at first, Jack Gehrke at second, John Hunter at short stop, and Tom Kilgore at third. Everyone was a hitter on this year's team. The Ute fans thrilled to see so many extra-base hits coming from the Ute timber, as the Redskins batted their way to a winning season.
