No haven for Nervous Nellies or other timid types, and certainly no place for ulcer candidates, Publications Council was a cool-headed crucible into which the complex issues and problems of University publications were dumped to boil and bubble over the heat that only the fact of typographical permanency can produce. Dean Wallace R. Bennett, Council Chairman, and the students and faculty members of the Council moved from crisis to crisis as they came to grips with nitty-gritty topics like appointing Chronicle editors, wondering what to do about obscenity in the Pen-or calming the Utonian's anxiety about problems with a printing contract. Finding, themselves the subject of more controversy than usual this year, Council members met with the comforting knowledge that their chances of making the news after any given meeting were more probability than possibility. 162 |
