Show Sports program steered by big four Making possible Ute participation in a wide field of sports, the University of Utah sports program was organized under the direction of Athletic Director James R. Jack, Sports Information Director Ron Fessenden, and Ticket Manager Ted Jacobsen to coordinate the variety of athletics offered at the University. In addition to the usual teams from the residence halls and fraternities, 1967-68 also saw the appearance of many independent groups such as the Medics, the Greek Underground, and, of course, the Utonian-Chronicle All-Stars. Each contest proved to be a heated one as each group felt the pressure of competition for team points. The man behind this perennially successful program was Dr. Tony Simone of the Health and Physical Education Department. Dr. Simone organized the program to provide an opportunity for anyone to participate. Sports offered this year including football, basketball, softball, lawn and table tennis, basketball free-throw, skiing, wrestling, horseshoes, billiards, and bowling.
