Show THE MAGICIAN waves wand, spirits All-American title In his four years at the University of Utah, Merv Jackson became part of a famous tradition of Redskin hoopsters. Undoubtedly, he will go down in history as one of the finest ball players ever to don a Utah jersey. Jackson was more than a big scorer and jumping jack. He was a team leader. His classical moves and unmatched poise were unequaled by opponents. His determination and spirit were overwhelming. He was a true winner. Jackson started his amazing career four years ago as a leading scorer on the papoose freshman team. In his sophomore year, Jackson earned a berth on the Redskin team that went to the NCAA finals. Merv "The Magician" continued to improve in his junior year and everyone was taking notice. He was selected Most Valuable Player in the Sugar Bowl Classic and was named to the All-WAC first team. His senior year was a fitting highlight to an outstanding college career. He led the WAC in scoring, finishing high in every other individual category, and was again a unanimous choice for the All-WAC squad.
