Show NETTERS score an unfortunate love-match Hampered by youth and inexperience, Harry James' tennis team found themselves out of contention for the Western Athletic Conference tennis crown. Coach James' netters have always been a threat for conference laurels; however, with only two returning lettermen and no seniors, this year was tabled a rebuilding year. With fine coaching from head coach Harry James and Davis Cup team member Jim Osborne adding assistance, the team progressed well and scored victories over many top rated teams. During a successful swing to the Northwest the Ute tennis team netted three big wins over the Seattle Tennis Club, 6-3, Seattle University, 7-3, and the University of Washington, 6-3. The real story of '68 was spelled out during conference matches where the inexperienced Ute's found themselves lacking the necessary depth and, as a consequence, losing hair-line matches.
