Show ADMINISTRATION examines academics A general re-examination of programs like general education, educational counseling, and curriculum of all colleges and departments led to fresh new programs from the Provost's office like the pass-fail option, the freshman cluster experiment, and the revamped freshman orientation week, enacted during the academic year 1968. Alfred C. Emery, Provost, guided the activities of academic colleges and departments, research at the University, the office of the Dean of Students, and economic and community development. The Provost and staff also focused in 1968 on teaching assistants and their role in academic organization. Long-range planning included projected needs and goals of all departments and their curriculum. L. Ralph Mecham/Wce President for Economic and Community Development Alfred C. Emery/Provost William S.
