Show The University Ballet Company teamed with the Utah Civic Ballet for the 1967-68 season which opened with "1967 Repertoire" presenting several works new to the Utah campus. Brilliant reds and glittering golds flamed on stage for the presentation of "Firebird Ballet," set to the music of Stravinsky and choreographed by Willam Christen-sen. The same program starred Jacque d'Amboise and Marnee Morris, members of the New York City Ballet Company, with the Utah dancers in a performance of d'Am-boise's own ballet, "Irish Fantasy." "Pas de Six," and "Les Bijoux de Mai," both Chris-tensen choreographed, rounded out the program. The annual December production of the "Nutcracker" thrilled Salt Lakers, with the leading roles of the Sugar Plum Fairy and her Cavalier taken by Utah Civic Ballet soloists. Enchanting costumes, artful scenery, and singing renditions of Tchaikovsky score added to the delight of the audiences, whose ages ranged from 3-73. February's "Ballet Showcase" introduced talent of University choreographers whose ballets built around the compositions of Tchaikovsky, Bloch, Mendlessohn, and Bernstein featured Civic Ballet soloists.
