Show stir sufficient interest to bring in enough money to fund their crippling organization. In 1901 the association was reorganized in Salt Lake City, and became more self-sufficient. The financial structure of the organization was reviewed and strengthened at the next convention in 1903, in Kansas City, when dues and assessments were adopted. The collecting of dues fell more and more into the hands of the affiliate state organizations. The sheepmen paid dues once to their state association and it, in turn, paid an assessment each year toward the work of the National Wool Growers Association. There has been splendid cooperation of affiliate states whose strength has added much to that of the national. The officers and membership made a dramatic shift to the western states through the ensuing years. OFFICIAL MOUTHPIECE To the lasting credit of the National Wool Growers Association it can be said that from its beginning it was an official mouthpiece speaking in behalf of its growing membership. And because it served the sheepmen who raised the various hreeds of sheep its service was on a large scale. The increasing volume of work that such an organization performs for its members is not always evident. And it is hard to comprehend the time and effort that go into each end result.
