From that experience, he developed the practice of Keeping a reserve amount of money in a savings account in order to meet emergencies as they arose. Often, he had to pay extremely high prices for hay, grains, and pellets when scarcities dictated. It was a good practice and one he never regretted. His son^in^law, Bill, realized the value of such a practice and adopted it, also, as a basic part of management during his years of steering the business.
