Show THE LEASE AGREEMENT John K was ready to talk over leasing arrangements and felt that it was time for Bill to have a financial break after all of the years he had shouldered the burden of the work so willingly and cheerfully. Virginia wanted Bill to include in the lease situation the nephew she had reared as a son. He had never been legally adopted, even though he had changed his name to Madsen. (His father, brothers, and sisters were living). He had been away to school much of the time, and was currently serving a mission for the L.D.S, church in Denmark, and in Maine after the outbreak of World War II In Europe, He was not trained in the sheep business, but Bill decided to wait until his return to Mt. Pleasant to work out lease details. Soon after returning, H-| John married Maxine Sanders of Centerfleld, Utah, and they lived in the house east of John K's, Then an agreement was decided for leasing the business together. By 1941, Bill was very well known in the sheep world and had made many fine friends and acquaintances among those he met in attendance at sales all over the western livestock country. The Madsen quality rams were in demand and with Bill's years of experience and plenty of work, the business made money that year and everyone was happy, The same agreement continued in force for the next year, 1942.
