The high rate of active membership in Texas was the reason for moving the office to San Angelo. Of the total membership (498) in the Association, 258 of them resided in Texas. PEARL HARBOR When the shocking news raced over the air waves that Japanese planes had bombed Pearl Harbor early on 7 December 1941, John K and his entire family were stunned! Talk about history being a matter of the past! It was being made just as much today. The extreme measures affecting wool during World War One came to John K's mind immediately and he braced his shoulders as if to meet an impact. If there was any question in his mind regarding what the conflict would mean to him and his fellow sheepmen he soon had the answer, for on the very day after Pearl Harbor, the staggering word was received that the maximum price of wool would be frozen 17 as of the December 6th level.
