Show As a counselor in the South Ward Relief Society, Virginia had helped devise and accomplish many fund raising events. John K and Virginia purchased equipment for the chapel kitchen, cooking utensils, dishes, tumblers, flatware, etc., and presented the total to the ward. Thus equipped, the ward was able to hold special fund raising dinners in the cultural hall that would have been impossible otherwise. Virginia could not envision the old foot-pedal pump organ in their lovely new chapel. She contacted Seldon Heaps of Glenn Brothers Music Company in Salt Lake City- with the result that she and John K presented a pew electric Hammond Organ to the ward - in memory of John K's mother, Wilhelmina. At the same time, Bill and Pearl presented a Chickering grand piano in time for the dedication. It was an exciting time in the old South Ward. 249 |
