Show It was decided that Bill should take Pearl in their maroon-colored Victory Dodge Sedan, and drive through western sheep country to make contacts and peddle rams that would in former years have been sold at the home ranch to range men who usually came to make their selections. But this was not a usual year and everyone knew it. That red Victory Dodge car was the great pride of Bill and his wife. He had owned a model "T" Ford when they were married, and had later sold a Chrysler before going east - to augment his investment there. But at the time he moved to Mt. Pleasant in 1927 he did not own a car. Both he and Pearl had admired the red Dodge in the showroom window of the Seely-Hinckley garage on Main Street, but had never dreamed they would ever own such a car. So they were completely surprised one day during their first summer in Mt. Pleasant (.1928). The purebred business had shown profit that year and Bill had assumed the ram sales trips on the freight train bound for Texas. It hadn't taken John K long to see that Bill was adapting to his new role in the business-and his enthusiasm for whatever arose gave an indication that he would be a permanent and valuable asset to the business, The little garage near the rented house had been empty for almost a year when John K bought the red Victory Dodge car and placed it in the garage without the knowledge of his daughter and son-in-law.
