Three of them were about fourteen feet long, and one eighteen foot long. Q Boats equipped with any kind of power? A The largest one was supposed to be a motor boat, but the motor didn't work. Q What is it? A The motor failed to work, had to take it by man power. Q To whom did these boats belong? A Robert B. Stanton. Q How large a party did you have going up? A Fifteen men. Q Did you carry some supplies? A No sir, only our bedding and provisions on the trip. Q Supplies for your party? A Yes sir. Q Why was it necessary to have fifteen men on four boats? A On account of the difficulty in pulling these boats up the river, in handling the boats. Q Approximately how many miles did you take these boats up stream. |
