Show 5027 Johnson- C 3040 ones we used were equipped with a small pin in the propeller, so when it hit the sand, instead of twisting the shaft out, it would cut that pin out; and raise the motor up and shove in another pin, get the boat off the sand, and gone again. Without that protection, be twisting the shaft off continually on the sandbars. BY THE SPECIAL MASTER: Q That is the shearing pin that has been testified to, isn't it? A Yes sir. BY MR. FARNSWORTH: Q Now, returning to the question I put to you, I wish you would answer that, Mr. Johnson, whether it is not a fact that with an ordinary row boat and a load of, say, a thousand pounds, the boat being equipped with one of these stock Johnson out- board motors, there would be any difficulty in navigating the Colorado river up and down from Lees Ferry? MR. BLACKMAR: I object to the question. BY MR. FARNSWORTH: Q Up from Lees Ferry up to Bull Frog, as far up as you have been, and back down to Lees Ferry. MR. BLACKMAR: I object to the question. BY MR. FARNSWORTH: Q Up from Lees Ferry up to Bull Frog as far up as you have been, and back down to Lees Ferry. |
