Show 4886 Cleary- D 2899 A By taking a line to the shore and putting pressure on that line with a winch they had on the boat, pulling the boat from the sandbar; after repeated trials, we again were able to proceed. We proceeded down the river to river to a point about a mile above the location, at which time darkness overtook us. The boat was tied up, and we walked from there to the location, arriving approximately about eight o'clock. BY MR. BLACKMAR: Q How long did you remain at Shafer No. 1? A About seventeen days. Q During that time what did you do personally? A I investigated the permits' staking, the actual setting of monuments that had preceded the drilling, ad well transportation routes and a pipe line route; in other words, a road to the pipe line out of the Shafer well. Q First, what was your purpose in investigating a pipe line? A Thinking we might have a field there, it would be necessary to transport the oil by way of pipe line out of that territory. Q What was your purpose in investigating a road? MR. FARSWORTH: We object to it as irrelevant and immaterial. THE SPECIAL MASTER: I think it is competent. |
