A We made a sled out poles, and loaded the boat on to the poles and hooked some oxen -- they were more economical than horses,-- hooked four or five yoke of oxen on the boat and pulled it back up on the shore. Q How far did they it back up on the shore? A About half a mile. Q Was the boat ever put in the river after that time? A No sir. Q Did this same outfit have another boat? A Ever run a boat? Q I saw, did this same company have another boat? A Oh, yes; they had the Mullins' boat. Q What kind of boat was that? A It was a metal boat; I believe it was twenty- three feet long, about probably four feet wide. Q What power did it have? A It had engine, I think they rated it about thirty- five or forty horsepower. Q Did you see the Mullins' boat in operation? A Yes sir. Q What was it doing when you saw it being operated, where was it going, if you know? A I saw them go around the point to Warm creek, on the way to Warm creek. |
