Show 4972 Dugan- D 2985 Q When did you first go on the river, and for what purpose? A My first trip on the Colorado river at Moab was in December, 1924. Q From what point did you go, to what point, and by what means of transportation? A Made a trip from the mouth of Mill creek down the river to what is known as the Kane creek structure, the site where later the Frank Shafer well was drilled, -- by motor boat. Q What kind of motor boat? A It was a boat, row boat with an out- board motor, Evinrude motor. Q Who operated that boat? A Fred Strong. Q Who is Fred Strong? A He was residing at Moab at that time, and was more familiar with the river than we were, and he volunteered to go down with us in this boat. Q Who were in your party? A Mr. Hanson, Mr. Strong and myself. Q Who is Mr. Hanson? A He is the president of the Utah Southern Oil Company. Q What was the purpose of this trip? A It was under consideration whether we would participate in the drilling of the well at the Kane creek structure at that time. |
