Show 4959 Edwards- D 2972 A We had trouble, possibly not every time, but almost every trip we made, specially in crossing the river, and on trips on the larger boats, the trips up to Moab. Q You say trouble, -- what do you mean by trouble? A Running on sandbars; that was our only trouble. Q In the portion of the river upon which you operated actively, did you always find the channel in the same spot? A No sir. Q During the time you were there, did you observe the effect at different stages of the water upon the sandbars in the channel? A At extreme low water the channels were easier to see, because the bars would be more or less exposed. At gave then was in crossing from one side of the river to the other, to follow what we knew was the best channel. THE SPECIAL MASTER: Read the answer, Mr. Stenographer. ( Last answer read.) THE SPECIAL MASTER: Do you understand that, Mr. Blackmar. MR. BLACKMAR: Perhaps I better ask him to explain. THE SPECIAL MASTER: You need not if you understand it. I am not clear that I do, though. |
