Show 4998 Rosenfelt- D 3011 when they arrived, the inspector of hulls went to work with me, and the inspector of boilers went to work with machinist they brought out with them, to get her ready. We launched her, and got the boiler tested out to have water. We was a long ways from the water at the time, so we had to launch her, and everything was tested and found satisfactory, everything perfect, and the inspectors went home and left me instructions for a few little details, what they would like to have done yet. And when everything was completed, I went home. Q Do you recall how the boiler and the engine were brought in to warm creek? A I seen the engine brought in in pieces; I seen the boiler brought in with sixteen yoke of oxen. Q How many? A Sixteen yoke,-- thirty- two oxen. Q After the boat was launched, how long did you remain there with the boat? A Oh, a week or ten days. Q Did the boat travel either up or down the river while you were there? A We had to try the engine before I could leave, and we traveled up and down there. There are several pictures there. |
