FARNSWORTH: Q Is it the custom, and was it the custom of the Midwest Company, in 1925, 1926 and 1927, to go ahead with drilling operations without any preliminary survey or recognizance relative to transportation costs or other costs of operation? THE SPECIAL MASTER: The witness has answered that question. Does he want to make a qualification? A Both yes and no. BY MR. FARNSWORTH: Q When you came to drill at Elk ridge, did you make that recognizance before or after you started drilling? MR. BLACKMAR: What recognizance? THE WITNESS: What recognizance? BY MR. FARNSWORTH: Q I just told you what recognizance, with reference to transportation. A In order to answer that I must qualify that statement; I must answer it in my own method, to get it to you plain enough so you will understand it. MR.
