Q Beg pardon? A Almost throw a dam of a small kind across the river, and maybe cut through at the different places. Q Can you tell me approximately how many acres of ground are under cultivation there in the Moab valley? A Well, I think between eighteen hundred and two thousand are cultivated; that is my understanding. Q From what source is the water obtained to irrigate those farms? A From Mill creek and Pack creek. Pack creek runs into Mill creek; about a mile above the river they come together -- run into the Colorado river. Q Do those streams run all the year around? A Yes sir, they do, to the ranches. Q What about below the ranches? A What I mean, they take all the water out on the ranches; some periods of the year there is very little running, sometimes, below the ranches, except a little waste water and seep water that runs into the creek. Q Have you been swimming in the Colorado river? A Yes sir. Q A good many times? |
