The definition or Madntfs. This Difeafe may be defined, a Delirium, or depravation of the Imagina. tion and Reafon ( without Fear and Sadnefs, the attendants of Melancholy) with fury, boldnels, and great clamors, and rantings, derived from falineful. phureous' Particles, arifing firl't out of the Blood, and afterward imparted to the Animal Liquor and Spirits. But I humbly conceive, this Difeafe doth not differ gradually, but fpecifically, as coming from various caults, and accompanied with higher fymptonies, by realbn Melancholy is accompanied with Fear and Sorrow, and Madnels With Fury and Boldnefs, flowing from nitro-fulphureous parts of the vital Liquor, making a hot Fermentative difpofition of the nervous Juyce, enraging the Animal Spirits.
