The fact is that I met Dr. Bunker several days earlier than any of the men mentioned above.) It seems that Dr. Bunker has had no direct administrative and executive experience in a university; yet he has had abundant experience in administrative and executive educational work generally, and he appears to possess very good executive ability. I note from his surveys that he gives consideration to the economic or business phase of educational work, and he seems to , have a keen appreciation of the money cost, and of the relative cost as to the results secured. Dr. Bunker impressed me as being a very willing person, but did not stand on ceremony at all nor assume any aloofness. There was no effort to give an impression that he expected to be sought or that he would be hard to get, and yet most persons who spoke of him were of the opinion that Utah would be doing well to get him. H6 was perfectly frank and straightforward and consented to come to N ew York to meet Mr. Ray and did it in a spirit of generosity, without our incurring the slightest obliga- tion to him.
