Dear Dr. Widtsoe: In the matter of the patent for an "improved metallurgical process" of extracting cepper from its ores by volatilization, allow me to say that a patent was allowed on May 15, 1920, by the United States :fiatent Office to Robert Henry Bradford. The work of developing the process was done in the laboratories of the University of Utah. The ores were furnished by the Pope-Shenon Mining Company, who paid part of the expenses of the tests, also the costs of pa securing the patent, and have built a commercial plant at a cost of $75,000 to try out the process.
