Dear Sir: With a View of curtailing unnecessary public expense, it has been decided that the practice of furnish- ing passenger automobiles to the various state departments and institutions must be discontinued, and that automobiles previously purchased by the State and turned over to state departments for official use shall be returned to the Capitol Building and offered for sale, under the direction of this department. . The records of this office indicatethat the following described automobiles, owned by the state, are being Operated under your official custody. Make License - 1921 Buick 7515 Ford 7615 Maker's No. 565865 2662770 Style 2, "- Touring n Year 1920 1918 At U of U " n " " In accordance with the policy outlined above, you are directed to return any state owned passenger automobiles in your possession or under your control, to the custody of this department at the Capitol Building, on or before May 15,1921 This department will authorize the use of privately owned automobiles by state officials or employees, for . travel on official business, upon application of heads of departments, accompanied by a statement showing that no public or regular means of transportation is available, or that such public or regular means of transportation cannot be used as advantageously in the interest of the state. In the case of privately owned cars, used under the above conditions, an allowance will be made of 10¢ per mile. Report of travel on official business will be submitted with each claim for reimbursement of mileage allowance on forms furnished by this department (Form No. E-4) copy of which is attached hereto.
