Show 114. SPECIAL REGENTS' MEETING OF AUGUST 15, 1920. Present: Chairman Riter; Regents Lund, Bamherger, Gemmell, Bennion, Alexander,Christensen, Stewart, Harkness,f and President Widtsoe. to Regent Alexander moved that the Board be authorized Loan of 3 borrow from the Land Board, $50,000, or as much thereof $50,000 Authorized. as is necessary for the purpose of erecting gun sheds and stables for the R. O. T.C. Unit. Passed. It was understood by all those present that the primary ; reason for incurring the indebtedness for the purpose of carrying out this military program was because of the weight of the moral obligation which the Regents feel is Chairman Riter suggested that the due the Government. above matters, including the motion of Regent Alexander be drawn up in a formal resolution by Regent Alexander and Spread upon the minutes. Following is Regent Alexander's resolution: RESOLUTION. WHEREAS, the University of Utah, by due action of its Board of Regents, has heretofore entered into -an agreement with the Government of the United States, whereby there has been established at the University of Utah an R. O. T.C. field artillery unit of the United States army, AND WHEREAS, said agreement provided that the Government of the United States would furnish.all necessary instructions and equipment, including 40 horses and all moneys needed to care for and feed the horses, and further agreed that all R. O.T.C. students should be provided at the Government's exv ease with uniforms and shoes during their entire four year course at the University, and in addition thereto, receive a cash allowance of $12 per month m per man during the third and fourth year of their course,g And WHEREAS under said agreement the only requirement of the University was to prepare proper housing facilities for the horses furnished by the Government, |
