The following letter from the architects in relation to Mr. Moran's bond was read: J. P. Moran Bond "June 5, 1919. Board of Regents,' University of Utah, W. W. Riter, Chairman, ' City. Gentlemen: ' At the request of Mr. Waldemar van Cott, we have inspected the columns in the Portico of the John R. Park Memorial Building and find that they are in reasonably sound condition. When the columns were erected there were several places in them which were filled.with German cement: these patches are still sound. The coating with.which the columns were finished when erected, is weathering off in many places: this does not affect them structurally of course, although it does their uniformity of color somewhat. However, affect not consider this to be highly objectionable we do and it is our opinion that, allowing reasonable weathering, the columns are in good condition and are in no immediate need of attention. We have looked up the bond P. J. Moran, Contractor, and find that furnished by the same runs to June 29th of this year. Respectfully", Young and H ansen,‘ Y Ramm Hansen. |
