Show PETITION TO THE STATE BOARD OF EXAMINERS December 29, 1920 Hon. Members of the State Board of Examiners, State Capitol, City Gentlemen: The appropriation made by the Legislature covering the biennium AprilSl, 1919 - March 1,1921, to the University of Utah for extension work, for $10, 000, has been exhausted; and, inasmuch as Section 5559 of‘ the Laws of Utah for 1919 provides that "persons who have served in the army or navy of the United States during the recent World War shall, upon application, be admitted for instruction in all courses at the said institution without payment of any entrance fee"; and,inasmuch as the Extension Division has, therefore, been deprived of revenue which it ordinarily collects from all its students, because of the registration of ex-service men; and, inasmuch as it is unavoidably necessary for the Extension Division to instruct these men without entrance fee, in accordance with State law, we, the Board of Regents of the University of Utah do petition your Honorable Body to create a deficit of $2,500 to cover expenditures of the Extension Division in excess of the $10,000 appropriated for extension work. Regent Fitch moved that the Board approve the action Payment of Salary Increases Approved the Administration in the payment of 10% increase to the regular employees of the University who are not included in the salary schedule covering faculty members adopted by the Board March 29, 1920. Regent Van Cott seconded the motion. Regent Lund suggested that President Widtsoe inform members; Future Increases of the University staff of this action in order that there may be no misunderstanding in case only members of the faculty share in the increases in the future in the attainment of the |
