Show 4822 Swanholm- D 2836 Q In what boat? A In 1927 I came down in the Moab Garage barge, but I don't remember whether it was the little one or the big one; it was one of the two barges they operated at that time. Q Who was the operator of the boat? A Virgil Baldwin. Q Did you have any difficulty on that trip? A As I remember it, that trip was exceptionally free from any difficulties; we had one or two minor delays. Q Sandbars? A Sandbars. Q How far down the river did you go? A I went to Lockhart at one trip, directly to Lockhart, about forty miles distant. Q Did you have a camp down there at Lockhart? A I had tents, and used the oil company cabins. Q The rest of the party were already down there? A No; my party went down with Mr. Yundt's party; the river party only consisted of about three men, including myself. The land parties on the mesas are five to seven. Q When you got down to Lockhart canyon in 1927 did you continue to meander the river? A Yes. Q The same manner as you have described further up? A Yes, by use of a small boat. |
