Show 4825 Swanholm- D 2839 BY MR. BLACKMAR: Q And in what way did they affect the operation of the boat, if they did? A Well, boats like we were using, if they are not loaded heavily, they have little effect on them on them other than to change the course of the boat. If you head them at full speed going down stream, apt to give you quite a tilt, and a possibility of throwing you out. But they never did, however. Q How did you get your supplies into Lockhart canyon? A The first supplies were brought down on the barge this first trip, and subsequent supplies were brought in by truck. I think there were two loads, possibly three, brought in from the Indian creek camp of Mr. Moore and Mr. Yundt. Q Did your party have a pack train outfit with it? A I did not. Q Did one of the other parties that were in touch with me, in the same camp sometimes, would always have a pack train available. Q When you completed your work down there in1927, how did you go out? A Up the river by boat. Q Which boat did you use? |
