Show 4821 Swanholm- D 2835 A The water surface, or between banks? Q The water surface. A I would say approximately three to four hundred feet water surface; some places it would exceed that; that is probably an average. Q Did you ever cross the river in any other method except by boat? A Yes, I waded it. Q At what point did you wade it? A It was just above the mouth of Mill creek, before we had a boat available. Q How far up on your body did the water come? A The maximum depth at that time was about thigh deep. Q What about the current at the time you were in there at that depth? A Never troublesome so far as wading was concerned, probably five or six miles an hour; offers no resistance to wading, however. Q When did you return there in 1927? A I think in 1927 I came down just about the last of August or the first week of September. This was purposely done, because we usually struck the low water stage at about that time. Q You came down from Moab? A From Moab, yes. |
