Show 4568 Kirkpatrick- D 2672 Nokai? Were you camped there for several days? A I was with the party there for several days, three or four days, possibly Q How far was their camps from the San Juan river? A Well, it was practically on the shore of the San Juan: few hundred yards. Q Just describe the appearance of the river as you saw it there, in November of 1928, with reference to the size of it. A Well, at that point I should judge the river was about six hundred feet wide, that is, the water channel, not between meander lines, but where the water was flowing; and it was shallow, and seemed to have a number of channels; that is, the water would flow part of the time here and part of the time over here; the channels would shift from one side to the other. Q Did that shifting condition seem to continue all the time you were there? A Just about, yes. Q How were these survey parties supplies which operated on the San Juan river during the years of 1924, and 1925 and 1926? A They were supplied by motor trucks and wagons and pack animals. Q At any time did they get any supplies by way of boats on the San Juan river? |
