Show 4619 Weber- D 2633 BY MR. BLACKMAR: Q But there had been a road at some place else on the river? A There is ranches and camps along on the mountain; there has always been a road, as long as I know anything about it, to get to them, but you wouldn't call them roads; it is just cow trails. Q Those were the trails that the supplies for the operations there in the Colorado river came in from Hanksville? A Yes, through Hanksville, yes sir. I would like to say this, the supplies such as eatables and so on, a good deal of that came in by way of Richfield, and on down that way, and all machinery and everything else came by way of Hanksville, everything was shipped from Greenriver, but there is a good many of the supplies, eatables and go on, came by way of Richfield and on down through there, but I don't know anything about that line. Q Do you remember one occasion in July or August of 1898 when you built for the purpose of gathering driftwood? A Right there, your Honor, I would like to make a little correction; I believe I am off just one year on that; I believe it was in 1899 instead of 1898 that I worked building a scow for the company, that is, for the Hanksville Company. |
