A That was to load on heavy machinery from the landing place on to this hers big scow to get it to the workings, the dredge, when they was building the boats, and then put the machinery on it; that is the only way they had to get it there; the boat had to be quite a ways away from the shore in order not to down it from the turn- loose. Q When you brought that scow down there and loaded it with driftwood did you have any difficulty getting through the river with reference to sticking on sandbars? A Yes sir. Q Now, just tell me about that. A get from the beginning? Q Just go right ahead and tell. A Right from the beginning? Q Yes. A After we built it we launched it a little below Dandy Crossing, and we went on down the river, and as we went down we gathered driftwood and put it on this scow, and when we got but Good Hope, we grounded; we was trying to get loose; we was detained there about half a day, four of us.
