A Well, one about seven or eight miles down the river from Moab, and the other at No. 2 well; that is about twenty- five miles down. Q Take first the point seven or eight miles below Moab, were you on the north or south side? A I was on the east side. Q On the east side? A Yes sir, the left side of the river. Q What is the character of the country in there? A That is a ledge country, very rough; the broken ledges run up very high; the cliffs are high. Q What kind of vegetation? A Well, the vegetation is very sparse up on the rime up on these rocks; some of those ledges are entirely devoid of vegetation, bars; down along the river there is some brush and a little grass and forage for stock. Q Did you see any people who lived in that country, any human habitations? A Not below Moab. Q The other point on the river where you got out below there was the same character of country? A Same character, very rough and broken. |
