Show 4737 Moore- C 2751 Moonlight trading post. Q How far was that camp from the San Juan river? A The camp in Copper canyon? Q Yes. A Approximately two miles. Q Up on the rim? A No sir. Q Up back from the rim? A Yes sir, back from the river. Q Back from the canyon itself? A Well, I don't know, it is back from the river, the river is fairly open through there; there is a small rim, I should judge twenty or twenty- five high along at the mouth of Copper canyon. Q Then does it slope? A Yes sir. Q Slopes gradually, does it, back towards the north? A No. Copper canyon -- I don't know as I exactly know how to explain it -- Copper canyon below our camp ran into what we would call a box; it narrowed up, and there was narrow rims-- the river at the mouth of Copper canyon, there was a small rim of about twenty or twenty- five feet high, approximately. Q You mentioned two occasions, did you not, when you took supplies -- moved supplies by boat on the river? A I made the statement, I think of a couple times that I recall. |
