Show 4662 Kirkpatrick- D 2676 Q Tell me the progress upstream, please. A Well, that, of course, was much slower; going up stream we had to keep close to shore to take advantage of the slower current, and we would move along one side and then cross over to the other to take advantage of what we thought were favorable currents. We went up to No. 2 well, what is termed No. 2 well, then on up to No. 1 and stayed there all right. I imagine our trip from Lockhart up stream was about twenty- two miles; that took the remainder of the day; I down we got at No. 1 well quite late; stayed there all night. Q Did you encounter any difficulty with the sandbars? A I don't recall any difficulty coming up; we may have struck several of them, but I don't remember. Q The next day did you go on to Moab? A Next day I went on up to Moab. Q Have any difficulty getting up to Moab? A Yes, our propeller on the boat struck a snag or a rock of some kind and was broken, and we had to beach the boat and repair it so we could go on up to the boat landing, the Moab landing. Q At what point did you beach the boat? A Just above the mouth of Mill creek; Mill creek is about two and a half miles or three miles below the boat landing. Q Did you leave the boat there? |
