Show Docent Dialogue The Utah Museum of Fine Arts University of Utah April2000 Images and Words A Message from the Curator April 9th to 15th is National Volunteer Week so I would like to take the opportunity to thank all of our docents who give us 150% each month and make it possible for us to provide the quality art education for which we are noted. Please know that any praise we receive for our programs stems directly from your generous and outstanding support. WE COULDN'T DO IT WITHOUT YOU! ( ' • DOCENT MEETING • Images and Words is starting up again. I hope the training was helpful for you. If you have any questions about the program or if you missed training please let me know. Remember for the tours, the idea is to introduce the student to the Museum and to get them familiar with looking at art and reading art. DO NOT LECTURE and do not give too much art historical information. Think of this tour as a guided discovery of art. The students will construct their own knowledge and ideas about what they see. I have had so many positive comments in the past about the docents and the program, just keep up the good work! Thanks, Virginia DOCENT GALLERY TALKS If you have felt frustrated because you couldn't attend past Docent Gallery Talks here is your opportunity to play "catch up." At our meeting on April 13 several docents will reprise their presentations. Since it has been difficult to have a regular schedule of Docent Gallery Talks for the Spring I have decided to make them once a month on the last Sunday of the month. I am hoping that making it only once a month will relieve the stress caused by busy schedules and prompt more docents to sign up. We need someone for April 30 so please let Bernadette know if you are willing to present a talk then. So plan on being here to listen to: •:• Judy Waters speak about Corot. •:• Doug Waters investigate our Spilberg Portrait of a Young Man •:• Pat Faulkner uncover our "Hollywood" Connection •:• Pam Parrot explore the many images of the Buddha in our collection. STEERING COMMITTEE MEETING Each talk will be repeated twice so that we can split up into small groups and have an opportunity to hear everyone. • Remember that we have changed our monthly meetings to the last Friday of each month. The time has also been moved up to 9:00 a.m. So we will be meeting on March 31 at 9:00 a.m . • |
