Show The Utah Museum of Fine Arts University of Utah A Message from the Curator September, 1998 ~OTLIGHT ON EXHIBITIO~ Opening on September 13, the Asian Art exhibition will be on view until we move into the new building. The objects on exhibit are from China, Japan, India and Southeast Asia -Burma, Thailand, Myanmar, etc. In the past, the records that I depend upon for the Docent Awards seem to have been faulty in some respects. To make sure that I don't miss anyone, I have listed below the docents scheduled to receive awards at the 1999 Spring Luncheon. If you feel that you should be receiving an award next year, please see me so that we can straighten it out. Although we will not be using the Asian Art exhibition for the Fall PARTners tours you can use it for other tours so- we will devote the second week of our Team Meetings to this exhibition with an informational session to be followed by a workshop on touring techniques for this collection. Our seminars in January will provide additional information on each culture and more ideas on how to use the pieces in our Five-year Awards . Jean Bess Pam Parrot Elodie Payne Pam Weilenmann Barbara Braeden ~ Ten-year Awards Pat Faulkner Fifteen-year Awards Ruth Kerr ~ I• TEAM MEETINGS Our annual event to recruit new docents will be held on Team Meetings will be held on September 9, 10, 15 and 17 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. A sack lunch will be provided so please R.S.V.P. to the Education Office so that we can order the right number. You can decide to come on the 9 or 10 and on the 16 or 17. These meetings will prepare us for the Fall tours so it is important for all docents to attend both weeks .. September 24 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. If each docent would bring one guest we would be well on our way to recruiting more docents. Invitations are available in the Education Office or 6i ve Bernadette the name and address of a prospect so that she can mail out the invitation. f.!, .!.I |
