Show ( THIRD SATURDAY EVENTS: Under the direction of Rebecca Pickett the following events were planned for the whole family: August 21, 1999 Storytelling Totems: Legends of the Northwest Coast Make your own totem pole September 18, 1999 Still Life Art Create a fruit or vegetable clay pot October 16, 1999 Art the Islamic Way Create Islamic-inspired art November 20, 1999 Mixed Media Art Mix crayons and water colors in a painting January 25, 2000 Make Prints View the Japanese prints and make your own. February 19, 2000 Celebrate 150 Years ofUtah Art Create a work to represent the next 50 years. March 18, 2000 Making Masks Make a unique mask of your own. April 15, 2000 Jewelry Making Check out the High School jewelry show and create your own. May 20, 2000 Mirror Mirror on the Wall Paint your own self portrait. HARVEST FESTIVAL EVENT: On October 9, 1999 the UMFA collaborated with the Children's Museum of Utah and Red Butte Garden on a Harvest Festival. All three institutions focused on harvest traditions. Helping to make the event a success were: Karin Brown, Anne Dolowitz, Pat Faulkner, Ruth Kerr, Kathryn Miller, Jean Moseley, Jean Nuismer, Pam Parrot, Billie Rich, Gay Lyn Sylvies, Marge WiJ,:,on, Cherry Wong and Kathie Zumbro. GALLERY TALKS: Docents and staff members volunteered to give short gallery talks on Sunday afternoons at 2:00 p.m. Subjects were objects and paintings from the Museum's permanent collection and special exhibits. Docents giving talks were: Anne Dolowitz, Elodie Payne, Tobi Terry, Gay Lyn Sylvies, Ruth Kerr, Doug Waters, Judy Waters, Pam Parrot, Helene Fairchild and Marge Wilson. |
