Show Docent Dialogue he Utah Museum of Fine Arts University of Utah A Message from the Curator As I look at the calendar it seems incredible that another year of school tours are upon us. I hope that you all have had an opportunity to relax in spite of the summer being a busy one for tours. The Utah Arts Festival and the July Family Event kept all of us hopping. A personal thank-you to all the docents who helped us to make these two occasions a success. "Kudos" to Heather for taking on the Family Event after Ann left and doing an excellent job of organization. If you weren't there you missed a "source of innocent merriment." (with thanks to Gilbert and Sullivan) You have until August 22 to see the exhibition on chitecture that Virginia put together for the Family vent. The selection of pieces is outstanding and the labels an educational model in being informative and entertaining. SO ..... don't miss it! DCE Art Classes August 2 to 6 • • e 10:00 a.m. to noon This year's theme for our annual summer art workshops for children is an Asian Art Trek. From August 2 to 6 we expect about 20 young artists, ages 7 to 12, to join us in a journey on the silk route via our Asian Art Exhibition. Some of the activities they will experience could include designing a Tibetan mandala, creating a folding screen or the challenging adventure of using sumi-e ink to paint their own Asian-inspired art work. If you would like to assist on one or more days please call Bernadette. |
