December 1998 I II ~ I I ~ ~ · [ ! ) A Message from the Curator I would like to thank those docents who helped us with the two Teacher's Workshops we had this month. Helping with our collaborative workshop with the Middle East Center on Egypt were Pat Boyd, Karin Brown, Elaine Call, Ruth Kerr, Jean Moseley and Gay Lynn Sylvies, one of our new Docents in Training. Assisting with registration for Women Artists were Kathryn Miller and Joyce Griste, one of our new Docents in Training, while Jackie Shiker, Gordon and Golda Olson were active participants in the workshops. fhanks to all for supporting the activities of the Education staff through your assistance, presence and participation. DOCENT SEMINARS ON ASIAN ART Our Docent Seminars on Asian Art will be held from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. on the following dates: January 7, 14, 21 and 28. The wmter tours will be ~ son:ew.hat b~sed on a "time machine" concept ; begmnmg with the MIC docents taking a ~ suitcase of treasures to the classrooms from ~ their "travels" to many lands. The kids will ; make a treasure box in the classroom to collect treasures_ . from their tnp to the Museum. When they visit the Museum, they_ will visit many lands (and ~ times): Egypt, Chma, Japan, Africa, North & Sou.t~ America and the islands in the South ; Pac1f1c.
