Those wonderful drop cloths we created are ready for you to use with your tours for the hands-on activities. Heather took many digital photographs of our action painting (with a few of us featured: Marge Powis' feet and my posterior?) (By the way, Wednesday's team had perfect attendance with Friday and Monday close behind' 1) I hope you are all ready to begin giving tours starting the week of October 5. Your focus is the Elements of ~ Art with a few Principles of Design sprinkled in. Another focus is on Abstract and Non-objective art. .,. . . , . ;,i ~ .... If you are totally confused - you must've not been at the team meeting about Partners and so you'll have to ~ see me and .get even more confused II Or check with your daily team chair for more information. ~ Thanks again- Ann P. i i~ II ~ ~ ~ ~ @] @] ~ SPOTLIGHT ON OBJECTS The Asian Exhibition brings back to view various objects that have been in storage for several years. =, Both of the Tales of Genj i screens by Kai ho Yusho, J apancse , 1817-1868 are now on view. Depicted on this pair of screens are sce nes from the Talcs of Genji , the story of the many escapades of a son of the Emperor by his favorite consort, written by Lady Murasaki Shikibu. Also back on view are the pair of screens depicting The Yasa ka Shrine and The Kiyomizu Temple by artists of the Kano School, Edo period , ca. 182 5. Interestin gly the screen of the Yasaka Shrine should be read from right Lo left while the sc reen of th e Ki yomizu Templ e should be read from left to right. The third item that some docents might remembe r is th e C loisorrne Vase from the Meiji Period, latenineteen th cen Lury Japan. Done in c loi son nc tech n iq uc. this vase is a technical Lour de force. The c loi so ns are extremely narrow, about th e widt h or a h..tir and th e deep blue-black ground provides an intense ~ontrast to the delicate pinks, greens and white of the plum blossoms and birds. ~ |
