Show ( SPECIAL ACTIVITIES AND TRIPS DOCENT RECRUITMENT BARBEOUE; The recruitment activity was held on September 16th from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. A healthy docent class resulted from this effort. CHRISTMAS LUNCHEON AND TOUR: Under the guidance of Emmaruth Keyser, docents toured St. Paul's Episcopal Church on December 9, 1999. Following the tour, a luncheon was held at the Lamb's Restaurant. SPRING OUTING: The BYU Museum of Art was the site for the docents' Spring Fling on May 4, 2000. Three exhibits were targeted- "A Song of Joys", a major retrospective of the art of Utah artist Mahonri M. Young; an exhibit on Realism, and a collection on the glass masterpieces of Dale Chihuly. On the way back to Salt Lake City, the bus stopped at Thanksgiving Point for lunch. DOCENT TRIP TO KANSAS CITY: Departing on May 17th and returning on May 21st, fifteen docents and one husband (John Whitby) enjoyed a fabulous trip to Kansas City. The excursion, led by Bernadette Brown, included docent-guided tours of the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art and the Spencer Museum of Art on the University of Kansas campus in Lawrence. Other highlights were the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art in Kansas City, the Truman Library in Independence, Missouri and the wonderful sculpture in the Country Club Plaza shopping center. Good food and good jazz rounded out the entertainment. Participating in the trip were: Bernadette Brown, Elaine Call, Kay Clark, Sarah Ehrlich, Helene Fairchild, Jeri Holmes, Ruth Kerr, June Orme, Jane Owens, Pam Parrot, Billie Rich, Arita Sparks, Ann Stewart, Arva Whitby, John Whitby, Marge Wilson, and Kathie Zumbro. SPRING LUNCHEON: The location for the June 8, 2000 luncheon was The Country Club.
