Show Docent Dialogue The Utah Museum of Fine Arts University of Utah DCE ART CLASSES August 2 to 6 • • • 10:00 a.m. to noon This year's theme for the art workshops is an Asian Art Trek. From August 2 to 6 we expect about 20 young artists, ages 7 to 12, to join us in a journey on the silk route via our Asian Art Exhibition. Some of the activities they will experience could include designing a Tibetan mandala, creating a folding screen or the challenging adventure of using sumi-e ink to .paint their own Asian-inspired art work. HELP TEACH THE DCE ART CLASSES f you have enjoyed working with the hands-on activities and would like to participate in more of the . same, why not join us in teaching these art classes. Come to a "brown bag" lunch on July 8 at 12:30 p.m. to discuss ideas. STEERING COMMITTEE MEETINGS July 7: A thank you luncheon at noon will 9e followed by a business meeting. Another Steering Committee Meeting is scheduled for August 4 after our Enrichment Meeting. Details in the August Docent Dialogue. Since we will be discussing the events for the coming year it is important that we get everyone's cooperation so please come to both meetings. I will be sending out agendas for each meeting. July 1999 JULY FAMILY DAY IS COMING UP!! Mark your calendars and plan to come and help on our big family event on July 17, 1999 Noon to 4:00 p.m. This event is based on architecture: The In's and Out's of Buildin~s. Plans are under way for various activities: *chalk drawing in the loading dock area *designing architectural columns *creating a building facade *designing and building (miniature) chairs and furniture *building sand castles (in baby pools- anyone got one we can borrow for the day?) *legos ( borrowed from the Children's Museum) *architectural treasure hunt in the Museum *walking architectural tour of campus *Entertainment will be provided by pianist Majorie Janove accompanfod by her son Raphael on the violin. A number of pieces inspired by architecture including Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition. *Food: A giant cake designed to look like our new building plus other "summer-time" refreshments. Heather VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR OUR JULY 17 FAMILY EVENT We need volunteers to help us with our Family Event on July 17. If you can give us two hours please sign up on the sheet posted on the Docent Bulletin Board or call Bernadette or Heather at 581-3580. |
